In 1918, a small group of Christians began meeting in a private home on Herman
Avenue in Dayton, Ohio. For the next two decades, the group would meet in various
rental properties throughout the city. From 1937 to 1946, the group was known as
the Riverside Church of Christ and met in a rented building on Riverside Drive.

In 1945, land was purchased for the construction of a building at North Main Street
and Forest Glenn Avenue. This new building was completed in May of 1949, and at
that time, the church became known as the Riverdale Church of Christ. In 1957,
the church provided 5 acres of land to plant a new congregation in Huber Heights.

The Riverdale Church of Christ purchased 8 and 5/8 acres on Turner Road in August
of 1961, in order to build a bigger building. The original building on North Main was
sold in May of 1962, and the church began meeting in the Loos School at 45 Wampler
Road until the new building on Turner Road was completed.

The Riverdale Church of Christ met for the first time at 450 Turner Road during the
week of November 10th in 1963. Through the years, the church supported special
ministries in Ohio like the Fort Hill Christian Youth Camp and Midwestern Children’s
Home. In the city of Dayton, the church supported Joy Bus Ministry, Benevolence
Center, Jail Ministry, and Joyland Nursery School. The church was active in
evangelism through planting churches in Ohio and New York. The church also
contributed to mission efforts in Japan, France, and Philippines.

In 1995, the Meadowdale Church of Christ merged with the Riverdale Church of
Christ to form the Turner Road Church of Christ. The funds from the sale of the
Meadowdale building were used to plant a church in Greenville, Ohio.

From 2000 to 2013, the church has been known in the local community simply as the
Turner Road Church—a group of Christians passionately committed to loving God,
loving others, and making a difference in the lives of people.

The church sold its property at 450 Turner Road in December of 2013 and is now known as
TRC—short for The Risen Christ: A Restoration Church.

Phase One of our exciting journey in the Dayton Metropolitan Area is now taking place
in a newly remodeled building at 12 North Walnut in Englewood, OH.

TRC continues to reflect its roots in the Restoration Movement—that time in the history
of the Church when the desire to be “just Christians” united the followers of Christ
in service and evangelism throughout their communities.
